Killjoy invites you to an evening of conversation and workshopping with iconic cartoonist and activist Sophie Labelle.

Sophie Labelle draws the cartoon/webcomic Assigned Male Comics, starring transgender kids in their everyday lives and the not so everyday things transgender kids go through as well.

The comics has won hearts all over the world thanks to it's sarcastic and loving approach to this niche set of experiences and for involving a group of people who seldom see themselves represented in stories in drawn media, or any other sort of media for that matter.

Sophie Labelle has, through her work with the comics, also become an advocate and activist for transgender rights and inclusion. The growing popularity of the comics and their norm critical approach has also attracted great hostility from people who have sought to limit her online presence and threatened her to such a degree she recently had to move.

Come and meet the artist, the pundit, and the woman Sophie for a talk about gender, comics as a medium, online violence against women, and the universe of Assigned Male. We start out with an interview with Sophie by editor-in-chief Laura Mølgaard Tams. And later Sophie will lead a brainstorm-drawing-workshop with the audience.

We'll be in Støberiets Café on Blågårds Plads on Saturday, October 28th from 5pm to 7:30pm.
The event is free and open to everyone. Seats are first come first serve, but we expect to have space for everyone.

With love, Killjoy

PS.
Killjoy has been able to organize this event with Sophie thanks to MIX Copenhagen LGBTQ Film Festival which Sophie will also be attending during the week. She will be doing a talk at Cinemateket earlier in this day that we suggest checking out, too.

For folks elsewere in the country, don't miss Sophie Labelle comes to Aarhus on October 26.
